A while back, my mom’s office was going through a mini makeover and getting rid of a lot of the old furniture they had. This IKEA chair was one of the things they were going to get rid of. I decided that, although it was in a really gross condition, it could be saved.

My original plan was to reupholster it, but after months of it sitting around looking nasty, I finally decided to make a temporary fix for it. I had seen a lot of posts on Pinterest where people had painted fabric furniture and I decided to give it a try. Originally I had painted it white with chalk paint i had picked up at Hobby Lobby, but I soon realized that white on a chair is stupid for this family.

In total, we have 3 dogs and 1 cat who are sassy and think they’re royalty. Of course this chair is their favorite throne, so having it painted white was just a terrible idea. So we took some of the left over paint from painting the coffee bar Behr Lunar Surface.

Since it’s just a temporary fix I didn’t do anything fancy with the paint. Eventually I’m going to buy a slipcover to just put over it but I couldn’t look at the nasty fabric anymore.
