In case you couldn’t tell, I don’t exactly go for a lot of color. I like light colors and nothing dark because I feel like dark colors darken and enclose the already tiny townhouse. However, the other day I was searching Pinterest for inspiration and I found it! I stumbled upon an interior front door makeover by Just a Girl and Her Blog and I fell in love!
It is seriously beautiful against the light gray walls! The perfect pop of color in my mind. So, I decided to give it a whirl! I decided to go for the same color that she used- Behr Marquee Compass Blue. I painted the entire door with the matte test paint I got and decided to feel it out before I went out and bought the semi gloss paint.
I liked it, but something wasn’t right. It still wasn’t the right pop of color. So I went to work and thought about what the best solution would be. And then it hit me! I decided to stick with something more my style. As soon as I got off work I went to Home Depot to pick up more paint. I went with a mint color instead of the navy- Behr Sea Ice P450-1 . The room is so small with very little natural light (especially since the Windows around the door are frosted) that I felt the navy was too dark to have on the large door.
In addition to painting the door, I also decided to paint the walls again. I had painted them Behr Marquee White Lie MQ3-55, and I liked the color, but It was still a little too brown for me. In some lights it also looked like it had a purple tint. So, I painted the walls with a color that was almost the same thing, but with a little less of a brown tint in it – Behr Marquee Etched Glass MQ3-27.
I also went out and picked up a rug for the entry. A while back there was another one that met its fate when Titus (who at the time was 6 months) decided to make it a chew toy. In all honestly, that was fine by me. I didn’t like the rug color anyways and so I wasn’t terribly sad to see it go. The new navy and white rug I picked up from Target was much better for the space and matched the color scheme perfectly! What’s even better, I only paid $50 for it! It was on sale and then I had a coupon on my Cartwheel app for an additional 20% off!
I also repainted the entry room console table to match the new color scheme. I will put the post up soon!
