I recently painted the walls in the master bedroom {you can see the post here} and one of the things left on the list was to paint the bed. I had been iching to do this for a while so I cannot tell you how excited I was when I finally got to do it! I decided I wanted to paint the bed white and then distress it. For the paint I chose to use Amy Howard One Step Paint in Ballet White.
I love Amy Howard paint! Ever since Jake brought me home the first can from The Lucketts Store {the antique shop where he works} I’ve been obsessed!
For this project it was pretty simple. I roughly sanded down the bed before painting then I painted the entire bed with 3 coats of paint. Since the wood was such a dark color, I needed to do 3 coats to get the white to cover. At first, I used a paint brush but then decided to switch to a foam roller because I felt the coverage was better and looked a little more even.
The hardest part of this project is painting in between the diamonds at the top of the bed. I originally tried using a small paint brush to paint in the diamonds, but noticed I couldn’t catch all the drips in time, so i switched to a small sponge brush. That was slightly better but I ended up using a Zibra Trim & Corner Brush which I just happened to see while shopping at the Home Depot and figured I would give it a try.
Once the bed was painted I sanded it down for a distressed look then covered it in a clear wax.
I love how it tured out!
